Performance of a Component-Based Allergen- Microarray in the Diagnosis of Cow’s Milk and Hen’s Egg Allergy

چکیده
REVIEWER COMMENTS. Although the retrospective design of the study did cause some limitations, the takeaway point for pediatricians and allergists alike should be that SPTs and immunoassays alone do not definitively diagnose food allergy, especially when evaluating nonanaphylactic symptoms of food allergy (eg, AD). Serum allergenspecific IgE testing, when necessary, should be directed toward relevant allergens only. OFCs performed in a board-certified allergist’s office to confirm food-allergy status remain the most reliable test for food-allergy diagnosis. Further prospective studies that examine specific IgE levels and SPT results for suspected food allergy in patients with and without AD are needed.

Specific IgE to Common Food Allergens in Children with Atopic Dermatitis
Background: Atopic dermatitis is a major public health problem, often starting in early childhood and sometimes followed by other allergic diseases. Although hypersensitivity to foods is assumed to play an essential role in the development of atopic dermatitis in some patients, little is known about common food allergens in Iranian children with atopic dermatitis. Objectives: This study was des...
متن کاملThe Natural History of Food Sensitization in Children With Atopic Dermatitis and the Prognostic Role of Specific Serum IgE
Background: The natural history and the prognostic factors for food tolerance in childhood atopic dermatitis (AD) are poorly understood. Objective: We aimed at investigating the natural course of egg and milk allergy in children affected by AD and food allergy and identifying if the persistence of allergy is associated with high specific serum IgE (sIgE). Methods: The retrospective study includ...

Background: The hypersensitivity to cow’s milk allergens is the most common allergies in children at the first year of life. The specific IgE evaluation is one of the important methods in diagnosis of allergic disease. The aim of this study was development of a sensitive and credible procedure for detection of cow’s milk allergens specific IgE. Methods: The allergen discs...
متن کاملMilk and wheat allergy, and celiac disease
Cow’s milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, and fish account for about 90% of the food allergies but there are considerable differences from one country to another. Milk allergy is among the best characterized food allergies, particularly in infants and small children. Only part of the children with early allergy to cow’s milk grow into shool-age with milk allergy but those that do often have severe s...
متن کاملThe IgE repertoire in patients with food allergy resolved at component level
Methods Serum samples were analysed by microarray Immuno CAP ISAC (Phadia), which allows to detect specific IgE against more than 100 of molecular components. We have retrospectively analyzed 153 patients with proven food allergy, 96 of them being children under 18 years. We recorded occurence of early reactions including OAS and anaphylaxis and also delayed reactions (atopic eczema and eosinop...
